Airport Security: New Idea

Apparently, the Russians are developing an airport security device that eliminates the privacy concerns that come with full-body scanners at the airports.

It's a booth that you can step into that will not X-ray you, but will simply detonate any explosive device you may have on you.

They see this as a win-win for and there would be none of this junk about racial profiling.

This would also eliminate long, expensive trials. Justice would be quick and swift. Case closed!

It's so beautifully simple . . . Visualize it . . .

You're waiting in the airport terminal.

You hear a muffled explosion.

Soon, an announcement comes over the PA system . . ."Attention standby passengers: We now have a seat available on flight number XYZ."

Why didn't anyone think of this earlier?

  1. That's a smart idea! But then, making it 100% foolproof is quite a challenge. And I hope somebody cracks it and makes it so we can fly in peace.

  2. Sangeetha: That's why this is still in the "Sixth Sense" domain :) But the moment such an implosion booth is discovered, air travel will indeed be peaceful!

  3. At least even if it is not there, there is no harm in making such an announcement to this effect. we can put the guy, make a suitable pre recorded sound, the person will fall into an underground chamber into the arms of charming Police officers and the guy will be eliminated from face of earth for all practical purposes and we can deal with him the way we want. Only catch, what to do with the big brother possibilities.Hopefully 6th sense of the attackers will revolt after a couple of beta tests preventing them from taking the chance.

  5. Brilliant idea. There could be an identity crises though, especially if it happens in India. A cop might get blown off instead.
